CASE STUDY
Nature of SEN: Asperger’s Syndrome (ASD Level 1/High Functioning Autism)

This case study is conducted on Fifth Year student in a small, mixed school in Co. Cavan with a rural demographic. This student presents with Asperger’s Syndrome; a neurodevelopmental disorder on the Autism Spectrum which is typically characterised by a difficulty in social interaction along with restricted and repetitive patterns in behavior and interests. This student is referred to by the pseudonym ‘John’ throughout the report.
